A Country Girl at Heart

I was born and raised in Texas and I’m PROUD OF IT! I come from a long line of ranchers, pioneers and resilient men and women who didn’t give up when the  going got tough. Their legacy is what gave birth to my love of storytelling.

Growing up in Texas, I was surrounded by a rich and vibrant culture that helped shape my identity. From the warm hospitality to the love for barbecue, country music and gatherings with family and friends, my upbringing instilled in me a sense of pride and belonging. The vast landscapes and the resilience of its people have all contributed to my deep-rooted connection to the Lone Star State. The values of hard work, tenacity and loyalty that are deeply ingrained in our culture have shaped my own beliefs and ideals. It taught me the importance of community, looking out for one another, and standing up for what I believe in.
The Texan spirit of independence and perseverance has inspired me to face challenges head-on and never give up. This heritage gave me the love for a good story, whether it’s telling it, reading it, or experiencing it.

Living in the South means that you are likely to have a country drawl in your speech. This regional accent, along with my Texan attitude and Christian raising, taught me that being a little different helps one to stand out from the crowd. Learning to appreciate my unique sound helped form in me a good measure of resilience and confidence in my abilities. It also gave me an unwavering conviction of the power of storytelling. I believe that if you tell a good story, it will have a lasting effect on those who hear it. Storytelling has the profound potential to create connections within a community by allowing individuals to share their experiences, values, and emotions, and creating a sense of empathy and understanding among listeners. Through storytelling, communities can come together, celebrate their shared heritage, and foster a sense of belonging and unity. Additionally, storytelling preserves cultural traditions and history, ensuring that future generations can continue to learn from and be inspired by the stories of their community.

These convictions inspired me to spend my life doing what I love, speaking and sharing stories. Voice acting is one way to draw in an audience with the heart and sound of my Texas culture and spiritual beliefs.

VoiceOver allows me a space to share my western culture and beliefs with others. My heritage is the catalyst for creating an immersive and engaging experience for the audience. By infusing the cadence, intensity, and emotion of my voice into the
narration, I, as a storyteller, can effectively transport listeners to the heart of the message, preserving and celebrating cultural traditions and creating a powerful connection with my audience.

Sometimes I go looking for a story to tell. I enjoy connecting with a wider audience through my podcast, A Texas Girl Talks. This is a space where I talk about life from a decidedly Southern perspective, sharing stories about my ancestors and interviewing other Texans who showcase the resilience, creativity and spirit of The Lone Star State. These folks come from diverse backgrounds and have their own unique stories to tell. From ranchers and farmers who have dedicated their lives to the land, to musicians who have shaped the country music scene, to entrepreneurs who have built successful businesses from the ground up, they all have one common denominator – GRIT. By sharing their stories, I hope to inspire others with their tales of passion and perseverance throughout this wild ride we call life.

My passions include working with the Celebrate Recovery Program through my church and supporting Compassion International. Through my involvement with the Celebrate Recovery Program, I have witnessed the transformative power of community and support. This program provides a safe and non-judgmental space for individuals to address their hurts, habits, and hang-ups, and offers them the tools and resources to overcome their challenges. It has been incredibly rewarding to see people find healing, discover their inner strength, and rebuild their lives with the help of this program.

My husband Gregg and I live on a family ranch outside of Hico, Texas. We love to hunt and fish, ride our horses, work with our Blue Lacy dogs and spend time with our family. Living in the country brings a sense of connection to the land and a deep appreciation for nature. However, it also requires hard work, resilience, and a willingness to adapt to the unpredictable challenges that come with caring for animals and maintaining the property. Despite the demands, the rewards are immeasurable, as it offers us a unique lifestyle filled with freedom, self-sufficiency, and the joy of seeing the fruits of our labor firsthand.

This is my journey. I invite you to connect and become a part of my story.
